Hey dudes and lady-dudes,

It’s been a long time since we’ve talked, but things have been happening around here (albeit slowly). Slowly because we here at Basement Show Girls have day jobs and other things that occupy our time. That being said, be prepared for a lot of BaseSG stuff to come your way.

One of those things is, as seen above, the long awaited Blast Wagon/Talkative split EP. This is an 8 song EP, including 3 Talkative songs, 4 BW songs, and one collaborative effort.

IIn other breaking news, you can buy this, and soon other fine BaseSG products online! Just hit those buttons under the image here to do it! Why don’t you treat yourself from the comfort of your own home?

They don’t look incredibly fancy or organized yet, but they will.

Pony Trash EP release + show

Old Blackberry Way (the studio behind some of the best local albums of the last decade) has entered the record making business. OBW engineer and label head Neil Weir has announced that the inaugural release will be the self-titled EP from his band Pony Trash. The band shares members with some of our favorite local bands, including Vampire Hands, The Chambermaids, and STNNNG, so anticipation has been high over at the Base SG offices. Head over to the Pony Trash bandcamp and reserve yourself a copy.

But what would an album release be without a show? Pony Trash have taken care of that too. Here are the details:

The Money Works have been asked to play a show, so that’s what we are going to do: Friday night at the Hexagon Bar, The Money Works will take the stage with The NPCs (One or more members of the illustrious Prissy Clerks), Protector The War Pony, and Phantom Vibration. The show is at 10:00 PM. It is free to get in. TMW is going on first (at least one of us is sick/has an early bedtime).

Ray Slao – In a Sullen Way

One of many breaking news updates from the Basement Show Girls team:

Our good friend and collaborator Ray Slao has completed his first print collection of comics that have appeared on the site. These include: Followed, Cab, It’s Easy, Undercovers, I Could Want, Snap, Lacerate, and Negative Backdrop.

He has also prepared four unique “grab bags” of comics from his collection (content that has yet to be seen outside of a few people). The four collections are titled: Advice, Sleep, Communicator, and Intentions. These will come in manila envelopes with a stenciled cover.

All these comics are available for free if you contact us at basementshowgirls@gmail.com

Copies will also be available at local stores in the coming days and at the upcoming Zinefest.

Terry in the Blue World

Recently I was made aware that an entry on The Future of Wallpaper featured an excerpt from a novel by Christopher ‘Jug’ George, titled Terry in the Blue World. I read it at my usual slow-as-hell pace and for a brief time I was happy. However, I have just now been informed that the author stubbornly refuses to release any further installments. Well, I can think of no better way to remedy this situation than to send some traffic his way. So head on over, take in the words of a great author and local treasure, and let him know you’d like to see more of his novel.

Hey whoever is listening, The Money Works are playing a show! That’s right, we are participating in one of Modern Radio’s first Thursday features at the Kitty Cat Klub in Minneapolis, sharing the stage with Prissy Clerks. These Modern Radio nights are fun for the whole of-drinking-age family, featuring live music (The Money Works and Prissy Clerks, duh) and a whole host of local DJs, as well as Modern Radio’s very own Tom Loftus manning the Modern Radio mobile record store.

Additionally, there will be several BaseSG products available at the show; BW records, and The Money Works “Born To Prosper” EP. This is going to be a blast, so come on out and enjoy yourself, will you?

Again, this is taking place Thursday, August 2nd at the Kitty Cat Klub in Minneapolis’ historic Dinkytown plot.
